Yesterday

I had another post for today, but scratched it.

Yesterday, was an exciting Sunday in our house.

Declan was into EVERYTHING and kept us on our toes for the entire morning.

We even took some photos so you could relive those wonderful moments with us today.

This looks like fun, right?
Totally.
Your probably wondering what I am doing.

Declan decided to "help" us with washing dishes.
He removed the cap from the soap and poured it all over the dishwasher.
Declan must have thought the floor needed cleaning too,
because the soap was dumped all over the floor as well.

It was a slight disaster.
How did he manage all this without us knowing?
I was in the shower. Which means, I was safe from accusation.
My husband wrongly assumed Declan would remain on the couch, safely watching TV, and went to shave in our other bathroom.
The bathroom that's a half a mile away on the other side of the house.
Far, far, away from what was going on in the kitchen.

Declan managed to pour most of it on the door of the dishwasher.
Jalon put the door up before we left for church and when we came back, it had all pooled in the bottom of the dishwasher.
I scraped it up with a spatula and put it in a measuring cup.

Those medicine syringes that you get for every kids prescription come in handy for the most random tasks.

I saved probably a 1/4 of what was poured out, but it still made me feel better.

You know what REALLY made me mad?

I can lose a little dishwasher soap and even lose some time cleaning it all up.

But what I really hate to lose is clothing.

Especially brand spanking new clothing.

Because dishwasher soap has bleach, Declans BRAND NEW outfit also has bleach.
BRAND NEW= tags ripped off 5 minutes before actual destruction.

And while I was cleaning all that soap out and completely distracted,  Declan decided to rip out all the unused butt wipes and start washing my windows.

  1. My first boy, Logan, sounds a lot like your Declan. Curious, no impulse control, into everything. At three, Logan put me into more heart stopping and frustrating situations than I ever thought a child could. By the time he was three, I'd called Poison Control twice. I know how to get diaper rash cream out of clothing, floors, stuffed animals and curtains. Of course, I know how to get it out of a child's hair as well. He's found medications in places where we "thought" they were safe, he never took any, but the fact he found them scared the hell out of me.

It gets better. I know it does. LOL After a lot of threats and discipline.

And hey, that bleached look in his brand new shorts? Consider him in fashion. That seems to be the way the kids are wearing their stuff now! :)

Good luck Danielle. I've been there. It's not easy but sometimes, it can be a lot of fun. That creativity has come out in other ways not quite so destructive. He's built things that no child at a preschool age should have been able to build. A little imagination and curiosity can go a long way when it's channeled in a fun way! :)

    1. Oh no! That sounds like chaos!

He will be wearing those shorts still, but mostly in the backyard for playtime.

I hope he just learns to channel all this creative energy he has. It's killing me...

  2. Ahh, the good old days of crazy little midgets wreaking havoc when you're not looking. My kiddo & my besty's kiddo were TERRORS when they got together at that age. My first night in a new apartment, they flushed a toothbrush down the toilet. Another time, they completely soaked my besty's bathroom floor with water & suds. Gotta love 'em! It makes me grateful that they're older & not quite so crazy. (Although, not completely sane, either.) *lol*

    1. That sounds hilarious and messy! I can't wait until my kids are older. I keep hoping it will stop soon, but so far, no such luck.

    1. Very true! Although, that would have made an entertaining blog post.

  4. Awesome mom moment! Why don't husbands understand when we say, "I'm going to take a shower now. Please WATCH the kids" it doesn't mean place the children in front of the tv and walk away. Ugh.

    1. Agreed! I'm not sure what he was thinking. My children aren't that distracted by TV.

  6. You will miss all these Declan moments when he grow up - they tend to be no longer as 'helpful' too when they stop considering chore as play. Have a fun week ahead and celebrate the Z day.

  8. We live in the same world! How is that we have never met? Hi, I'm Amy and my son also likes to destroy/dispose of household products. The clothes part really stinks, though. So sorry about that.

I LOVE comments...except bad ones. You can keep the bad ones. Or maybe disguise them as nice ones. I know people that are really good at that.
