Unwelcome and Uninvited

Sleighbells ring, are you listening?
It should be spring, but snow is glistening
A disturbing sight,
We're all disgusted tonight
Shoveling this Winter Wasteland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
No spring, is what he heard
It's depressing to say
The snow's here to stay
Drowning in this Winter Wasteland

If I have to build one more snowman
I will make him do something dirty

He'll say: Are you nuts lady?
I'll say: Yes man.
Winter is beginning
to bring me down.

Later on, we'll conspire
melt all the snow with a bonfire.
To face unafraid
a devious plot I've made
Destroying this Winter Wasteland.

Our house is filled with disease and sickness
My kids catch it all and it sucks.
Going to the doctor appointments and hospitals
Costs us all the big bucks.

When it snows, I start cringing
Because in April, it's no longer thrilling.
We miss all the fun, outside in the warm sun
In this Minnesota Winter Wasteland.

Merry Christmas...in April.
These are pictures from the snow we had on Monday.
It's supposed to be in the 60's or 70's this weekend.
It better be...or else.

  2. UGH! I feel for you. We don't have snow now... but we're supposed to get it *again* this afternoon. It's just enough that it'll be warm for three days and I'll start fantasizing about gardening. And then mother nature is all "hahaha NO. I shall freeze/ kill every green thing in the land!"

    1. Stupid nature...it's making me cranky. We have our garden all planned out. I'm so disappointed that I can't plant yet.

  4. Great poem! It's hasn't snowed for a week or so here. My sister-in-law is from the South and gets so annoyed with the late snow. A few years ago it was snowing until June...she was not a happy camper, but the skiers loved it.

    1. Thanks! I couldn't imagine it snowing until June. Bleh. It stays cool around here that long, but hopefully the snow is done now. Hopefully...

  6. I'm one of those weirdos who loves snow. I prefer cold weather and snow doesn't get old to me. But of course, I've never lived somewhere where it snows constantly. :-)

    1. I LOVE snow. In the regular months of winter. But when spring hits, I need it to be spring. I'm ready for some spring. No more white/gray colors outside. I need some happy.

    2. Completely understandable...I must admit I enjoyed walking the 14 blocks to the subway today without wearing a heavy coat. :-)

  12. You did a great job with the song. I sang the whole thing.
if I woke up to that much snow, I would have cried my eyes out. I was ticked that I had to wear my winter coat yesterday. I am Over it!

  13. And now I'll be humming that all night. All of my MN friends were pretty disgusted by this. So sorry!

I LOVE comments...except bad ones. You can keep the bad ones. Or maybe disguise them as nice ones. I know people that are really good at that.
