The Color Run.

I did another 5K that was a rainbow of fun.

Also a little sweaty. It was around 80 degrees with humidity...I felt like I was wrapped in a blanket.

I will do this again.

I had to walk a bit, but still managed to finish in 38 minutes. It's not my best time. Not nearly. I am not even sure 38 minutes is accurate. I had a stopwatch that I tried running with, but I tucked it in my sports bra, in between my soft bits and hoped for the best. I ended up sweating so much, I broke the thing. So we just guessed I finished around 38 minutes.

Here are some photos, just in case you didn't get to go or have any fun. Feeling sorry for you. It's a blast!

Before the race, munching on his doughbies.

Our "Before" pic. Evan didn't race this year but he's going to do this with me next summer!

Although his face here is saying "Please don't make me do this".

Starting line. I was in there somewhere on the left hand side of the picture.

See the girl on the left side, black sunglasses, pained look on her face...that's me.

Me again. Hiding. It's like playing Where's Waldo.

Can you see the orange cloud wayyyy ahead? Fun stuff.

I'm still the girl wearing the sunglasses trying to breathe through the PINK cloud. It's not as bad as it looks. I did cough a little at the blue part, but the rest I can hardly remember.

Finish line! Thank God I made it! Do you see me? Oh..never mind. I wasn't there yet.

Wiping my face on the one clean spot I could find. There wasn't any, so I settled on my husbands clean shirt. He's such a nice guy.

This face tells it all. Hot, sweaty and thirsty. Don't touch me. There are blue jugs of water behind me. I wanted to strip down and swim in them. But people were drinking out of them, not sure they would appreciate drinking Danielle Water.

"Before" the cloud.

During the cloud. See the orange on the far right? I'm going to say that's us. Evan and I blasted our orange as high as we could. Just pretend with me ok?

"Cough-Cough"

"After" the cloud. Poor Evan...he didn't know what to expect.

He looks great in purple!

My happy kid! Ready for next year?

If you haven't decided if running is for you or you're unsure whether you can do a 5K, get up and do it. That's it. You never know until you try and this is one of the BEST first runs you could pick! It's not timed, it's a blast and very relaxing to do.

Get up. Seriously, now. You are missing out on some fun and some easy exercise. I can't even tell you how wonderful this felt to do. It was hot, I was sweaty and beat by the time it was through, but I will gladly do this run over and over again.

You may think, "I hate running" or "It's boring and just not for me". I thought those things. I was never a fan. I'm still not sure. When I have to get up in the morning or run in the heat or cold, it's hard. But when I run in these "races" there's nothing like it. Do it. Then teach your friends, family or kids. That way you can all run together, encourage each other to push harder, and stay healthy and fit together. Makes life much more fun and much easier when you have a great support team!

I had Jalon, my Mom and my sister come out and cheer me on. I was so grateful to have them there! They are who I thought of when I wanted to stop and walk. Just knowing they were out there, waiting for me to finish, kept me moving. I did give in once. But I'm going to move on and do better next time.

This is probably my last race for the year. I would gladly do them all, but they just cost SO much! Next year I'll budget better and plan more in advance. I want to try some more and even attempt a harder one.

That thought made my stomach turn, so maybe I'll just wait and see.

Want to come run with me?

I know your thinking about it. Stop it and get out there already!

I'll meet you at the starting line.

  1. Ok so you have certainly inspired me, Im going to do it, for three reasons, one I have been wanting to get back into running, two ummmm yeah first weekend back in the AF reserves and what do they tell me, I have to run next month ugh....(I have not run consistantly since before I was preggers with Sophia, she will be 5 in Sept....) while in my Death by Power point briefings all weekend, I get a call from the shirt he wants to know when my pregnancy profile ended, I giggled disrespectfully and said my baby will be four in December.... so yes I have to PT test and three I want to run a 5k, and just my luck there is one in Sept sponsored by my church so I am going to do it, duel purpose training, PT test and 5k here I come, hope I can make it.....

    1. Of course you'll make it! Run like crazy and have fun with it. Music helps me quite a bit. Also, finding a good time to run is helpful. I love running first thing in the morning, it's a great start to my day. Good luck dearest and I know you'll do fantastic!

I LOVE comments...except bad ones. You can keep the bad ones. Or maybe disguise them as nice ones. I know people that are really good at that.
